Strong Auction Results Continue to Propel the Collector-Car Market, Supporting Postive Expectations

Welcome to this week’s Motorcopia collector-car market Newsletter! And what a week it’s been, with not one, but two single-owner private collection auctions. From the huge and diverse Larry’s Legacy auction presented by Mecum Auctions to the No Reserve Stan Lucas Collection sold by Gooding Christie’s and the seemingly “under-the-radar” Robert Richardson Collection auction presented by Bonhams | Cars, the action from September 15th through the 21st confirms our ongoing “Optimistic Buy” stance.

A word about Social Media and our target audience. Our business Facebook page currently has nearly 4,000 followers, yet next to no participation. That is, unless we count the 3-5 friends and family who “Like” our posts and the odd online snark from 1 or 2 others in our extended circle of friends and acquaintances. Accordingly, we have decided to severely limit participation on most online platforms, leaving the great photos, videos, shorts, and “Top 10” lists to the people who are already providing that type of online content. That is not to say that we won't be open to delivering more eye candy and enthusiast-type content as we are able to do it.

Our mission at Motorcopia is vastly different: to deliver actionable and understandable market intelligence to High-Net Worth and Ultra High-Net Worth collectors, public and private collections, alternative asset-focused investors and businesses, their professional advisors/fiduciaries, and the professional auction companies, dealers, lenders/leasing companies, insurers, and top media outlets in the classic and collector-vehicle marketplace.
